Backend & Cloud Engineer · Open to work

Backends that scale.
Clouds that stay up.

I'm Gagandeep — a backend engineer at Invenco by GVR, building event-driven services and the AWS infrastructure behind them. I care about latency, cost, and systems that don't wake anyone at 2 a.m.

Associate Software Engineer

  • Owned an end-to-end authorization caching solution — replaced a 100M+ record materialized view with an event-driven in-memory cache, cutting auth latency from 1–5s to <10ms p99.
  • Built 8 CDC event handlers on Kafka/ECS with parallel reads, pipelined writes, optimistic locking, a DLQ, and sub-60s lag observability; scaled to 100K QPS at ~$5.9K/yr vs a $28K/yr alternative.
  • Published an internal TypeScript authorization library with typed single-call APIs, pooling, and TLS retry — removing main-DB I/O load and standardizing auth across services.
  • Delivered 70% of a remote provisioning system for the service certificate hierarchy (infra, backend, deploy), automating mTLS issuance and zero-downtime rotation.
  • Implemented the CA hierarchy on AWS (ECS, Secrets Manager, RDS, SQS) with retries and CloudWatch alarms; cut manual provisioning effort by 80%.
  • TypeScript
  • Golang
  • AWS
  • Kafka
  • PostgreSQL
  • Docker

Software Development Intern

  • Increased team productivity by 40% by building custom AI integrations and IDE workflows that automated development, documentation, and GitHub/Confluence tasks.
  • Remediated pentest findings — stored XSS, CSV injection, user enumeration, access-control gaps, and auth rate-limiting — and patched cloud security issues via runtime upgrades.
  • Built backend REST APIs for an IoT core platform (asset, auth, device management) and contributed to a payment-bridging system with fault-tolerant error handling.
  • Node.js
  • Golang
  • REST APIs
  • AWS Lambda
  • PostgreSQL

03 — About

I care about systems that are simple to run, cheap to operate, and hard to break.

I build backend services and the infrastructure around them — APIs, background jobs, databases, and deploys. I like the unglamorous parts: clear logs, health checks, sensible defaults, and automation that removes 2 a.m. pages.

Outside of work I write about cloud cost, self-host side projects on Oracle's free tier, and tinker with containers.
